![]() Their leader is a classic tsundere who hides his ~complex emotions~ under a shield of physical aggression and rage because he's so ~damaged~. All of the "strong" women on the team get overly physical and have bad tempers. The team is basically comprised by a bunch of psychos, one of whom wields a knife (which he uses to threaten people with) and does a copious amount of drugs. even though he's kind of an ungrateful, shady jerk about it. Clearly, he hasn't done a good enough job about covering his tracks because he ends up getting drafted to the Palmetto State Foxes Exy team. The main character, Neil, is good at Exy. THE FOXHOLE COURT revolves around a made-up sport called "Exy" that seems to be a cross between lacrosse and soccer. Exciting things! Scandalous things! And THE FOXHOLE COURT doesn't really have a whole lot going on for a book that's supposed to be #SoEdgyYouGuysOMG. Nothing against trash - I am a huge fan of trash - but when I read trash, I want things to happen. Quality-wise, it reminds me of some of the self-published efforts I used to see on Fictionpress or : well-written trash that for whatever reason garnered a cult following. Now it has over 15,000 and I honestly don't get the hype. I remember when this book had under 100 ratings on Goodreads. ![]() □įile this under "Goodreads led me astray on yet another over-hyped piece of nonsense." How could you have failed me yet again? For more info on this challenge, click here. The narrator was basic but alright.□ I read this for the Unapologetic Romance Readers' New Years 2018 Reading Challenge, for the category of: Sports Romance. I am talking about Neil's future romantic interest who shall remain nameless for the shake of this spoiler free review. Not gonna lie if I didnt ship the pair I would not continue the series. But the romance potential makes me intrigued to continue the trilogy. And I also listened to the second half of the book in almost twice the reading speed, hoping to get to the good parts. Dont mistake me for a hater though, I am now on my way of purchasing the second book. The story was simple and I was expecting the romance to blossom from the first book of the trilogy however it did not. But that comes from someone who finds action sequences boring so keep that in mind. And I found the sport games so so so boring. I would even dare to compare it with a fanfiction. I did listen to the whole thing within two days. I was kind of disappointed by the story of this book. I'd sorta understand it in the sports section, or the LGBT, or whatever. I fucking loved this story, but it does not belong in the relationships and romance sections. ![]() It forces him into a constant sort of high. It induces a sort of manic euphoria that makes it hard for Andrew to keep focus, or to remain 'down' for too long. its a made up drug and the effects aren't pretty, but they are consistent. Suspend your disbelief about Andrew's drugs. This is their second chance, their third, fourth it doesn't matter, as long as its one chance more than what the rest of society has given them. Each one has a past and each one has suffered for it, it's what makes them Foxes in the first place. If you've ever been down on your luck, if you've ever had possibly the worst moments of your life happening all at once and leaving you at your version of rock bottom, you'll connect and fall in love with these characters. Despite all of the warnings, it is an amazing series. ![]() Trigger warnings pertaining to Rape, Torture, Drug and Alcohol abuse, and a couple more (Like seriously, on Tumblr there is an entire list of warnings that might keep you from reading the books) 3. This series, maybe not book 1, but definitely 2 and 3, should have a lot of warnings in them. That's more on book 3 though, so read at your own risk and know what you're getting into. There isn't anything porny, but they do end up doing things. Two of the main characters end up in a 'relationship'. On that note, I've got some warnings to pass out to those of you on the fence about this series. As someone who has owned the physical and kindle books for a good 5 or so years now, I'm going to say this: I've been waiting for the audio versions for so very long that this sorta feels like a dream.
